AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING TO LEADERS AND EDUCATORS THROUGHOUT NEW MEXICO, THEREBY IMPROVING STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT AND ACCOUNTABILITY FOR SCHOOLS AND SCHOOL DISTRICTS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million five hundred thousand dollars ($1,500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2005 to contract with a community-based organization to work for continuous improvement in student achievement and performance by the state's educational system by providing Baldrige-based training and consulting to administrators, teachers, staff, students, parents, school board members, public education department personnel, community college partners, college of education partners and members of the community. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2005 shall revert to the general fund.
