HOUSE FLOOR AMENDMENT number ___2__ to HOUSE BILL 119, as amended


Amendment sponsored by Representative Richard P. Cheney



    1. On page 1, line 12, before the period, insert "EXTENDING ELIGIBILITY TO DEPENDENTS OF CERTAIN NEW MEXICO RESIDENTS REGARDLESS OF PLACE OF GRADUATION; EXTENDING ELIGIBILITY TO TRIBAL COLLEGES".


    2. On page 1, line 24, after "school", insert "and the governing boards of regionally accredited tribal colleges located in New Mexico".


    3. On page 3, between lines 16 and 17, insert the following new subsection:


         "E. The tuition scholarships authorized in this section shall also apply to full-time resident students who are accepted for entrance to and attend one of the public post-secondary educational institutions set forth in this section if they:


             (1) are the dependents of New Mexico residents who:


                  (a) work for state, federal or tribal government;


                  (b) are temporarily assigned outside the state; and


                  (c) file New Mexico income tax returns; and


             (2) were required to complete high school out of state because of their parents' work assignment.".
