Mr. Speaker:

 

    Your JUDICIARY COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred

 

HOUSE BILL 230

 

has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:

 

     1. On page 2, between lines 1 and 2, insert the following new subsection:

 

          "C. An order of protection against a minor shall be effective for a fixed period of time not to exceed ninety days. The order may be extended for good cause upon motion of the petitioner for an additional period of time not to exceed ninety days.".

 

     2. Reletter the succeeding subsections accordingly.

 

     3. On page 2, between lines 11 and 12, insert the following new section:

 

     "Section 2. A new section of the Family Violence Protection Act is enacted to read:

 

     "[NEW MATERIAL] SEALING OF COURT RECORDS.--The court shall seal the court records of all proceedings concerning orders of protection against a minor when the minor becomes eighteen years of age or becomes emancipated pursuant to the Emancipation of Minors Act, unless good cause is shown as to why the court records should not be sealed."".

 

     4. Renumber the succeeding section accordingly.

 

     5. On page 3, line 21, before the semicolon insert "who is not emancipated pursuant to the Emancipation of Minors Act".
