AN ACT

MAKING APPROPRIATIONS FOR EDUCATIONAL MEASURES.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATIONS.--

          A. Five million dollars ($5,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the schools in need of improvement fund for expenditure in fiscal year 2006 and subsequent fiscal years to pay costs for after-school programs, including tutoring students for whom English is a second language and tutoring students in public schools that have been ranked as schools in need of improvement. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of a fiscal year shall not revert to the general fund.

          B. Four million dollars ($4,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2006 for music education programs. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2006 shall revert to the general fund.
