AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE COMMISSION ON HIGHER EDUCATION TO RECOGNIZE RECEIPT OF A ZIA AWARD.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five million dollars ($5,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the commission on higher education for expenditure in fiscal year 2006 to provide for a one-time award of five million dollars ($5,000,000) to any four-year public institution of higher education in New Mexico awarding baccalaureate degrees that has been awarded an annual New Mexico zia quality award by quality New Mexico. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2006 shall revert to the general fund.
