FOR THE CORRECTIONS OVERSIGHT, COURTS AND JUSTICE COMMITTEE

 

AN ACT

MAKING APPROPRIATIONS TO REPLACE FEDERAL AND GRANT FUNDS FOR DRUG COURTS AND TO EXPAND, CREATE AND EVALUATE DRUG COURTS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATIONS.--

          A. The following amounts are appropriated from the general fund to the administrative office of the courts for expenditure in fiscal year 2006 for the following purposes:

                (1) five hundred twenty-nine thousand six hundred dollars ($529,600) to replace federal and grant funds for juvenile, adult and family drug courts in the first, fifth and thirteenth judicial districts;

                (2) seven hundred eight thousand eight hundred seventy-six dollars ($708,876) to expand juvenile, adult and family drug courts in the third, fourth, fifth, eleventh and thirteenth judicial districts;

                (3) eight hundred fifty-seven thousand three hundred eighty dollars ($857,380) to add adult and family drug courts in the seventh, eighth, ninth and thirteenth judicial districts; and

                (4) one hundred sixty thousand dollars ($160,000) to evaluate juvenile, adult and family drug courts throughout the state.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2006 shall revert to the general fund.
