AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR NEW MEXICO'S PARTICIPATION IN INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION INITIATIVES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2006 to fund New Mexico's participation in a multistate collaborative to advance international education and initiate activities within the state that focus on increasing cultural awareness and promoting mutual understanding and respect for citizens of other ethnicities, nationalities and countries. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2006 shall revert to the general fund.
