AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A SUBSTANCE ABUSE HOTLINE AND FOR TREATMENT PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN UNDER TWENTY-ONE YEARS OF AGE IN VALENCIA COUNTY.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

          A. One million dollars ($1,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2006 for the following purposes:

                (1) to establish and operate a hotline in Valencia county to provide information, resources and referrals regarding substance abuse by children under twenty-one years of age who are at risk of entering the juvenile or adult correctional systems; and

                (2) to contract with a provider to develop and implement a program in Valencia county providing a continuum of care that includes inpatient or intensive outpatient treatment for children under twenty-one years of age with substance abuse problems.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2006 shall revert to the general fund.
