AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE AGING AND LONG-TERM SERVICES DEPARTMENT FOR SENIOR CITIZEN PROGRAMS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

          A. Eight million two hundred fifty-nine thousand two hundred fifty-four dollars ($8,259,254) is appropriated from the general fund to the aging and long-term services department for expenditure in fiscal year 2010 for the following purposes and in the following amounts:

                (1) seven million four hundred forty thousand three hundred eleven dollars ($7,440,311) to the four area agencies on aging for senior services, including adult day care, case management, congregate meals, home-delivered meals, in-home services, transportation and senior center services throughout the six planning service areas;

                (2) five hundred fourteen thousand eight hundred thirty-two dollars ($514,832) for volunteer programs, including foster grandparents, senior companions and retired senior volunteers;

                (3) forty-two thousand four hundred thirty-one dollars ($42,431) for information, assistance, education and respite services for caregivers and persons with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders, other chronic illnesses or functional impairments; and

                (4) two hundred sixty-one thousand six hundred eighty dollars ($261,680) for senior health promotion activities, including senior olympics.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2010 shall revert to the general fund.
