AN ACT

RELATING TO THE PUBLIC PEACE, HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE; PROVIDING RESIDENT TUITION FOR COLLEGE OF SANTA FE STUDENTS WHO TRANSER TO STATE BACCALAUREATE-GRANTING EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS; PROVIDING FOR TRANSFER OF CREDITS; ALLOWING LEGISLATIVE LOTTERY SCHOLARSHIPS FOR NEW MEXICO RESIDENT STUDENTS WHO OTHERWISE QUALIFY.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. TEMPORARY PROVISION--COLLEGE OF SANTA FE STUDENTS RECEIVE RESIDENT TUITION--TRANSFER OF CREDITS--LEGISLATIVE LOTTERY SCHOLARSHIP.--

          A. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, any state baccalaureate-granting post-secondary educational institution shall allow a student who was enrolled at the college of Santa Fe during the 2008-2009 school year to enroll in the institution and pay resident tuition rates for no more than three consecutive years as determined by the higher education department.

          B. The higher education department shall establish a plan to facilitate the transfer of credits and students between the college of Santa Fe and the state baccalaureate-granting post-secondary educational institutions. Each institution shall accept for transfer those credits earned by a student while enrolled at the college of Santa Fe if they meet the requirements of the institution's degree-granting programs.

          C. A New Mexico high school graduate who would have met the requirements for a legislative lottery scholarship but who chose to attend the college of Santa Fe may receive a scholarship for no more than three consecutive years as long as the student complies with the requirements for the scholarship.
