AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR CERTAIN SENIOR CITIZEN PROGRAMS THROUGHOUT NEW MEXICO.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--

          A. Three million one thousand nine hundred forty dollars ($3,001,940) is appropriated from the general fund to the aging and long-term services department for expenditure in fiscal year 2013 in the following amounts and for the following purposes:

                (1) two million four hundred seventy-four thousand five hundred eighty-six dollars ($2,474,586) to the six area agencies on aging for senior services, including adult daycare, case management, congregate meals, home delivered meals, in-home services, transportation and senior center services;

                (2) four hundred thirty-seven thousand twenty dollars ($437,020) for volunteer programs, including foster grandparents, senior companions and retired senior volunteers;                 (3) thirty-four thousand two hundred ninety-seven dollars ($34,297) for senior health promotion activities, including senior olympics;

                (4) thirty-one thousand nine hundred seventy-four dollars ($31,974) for information, assistance, education and respite services for caregivers of and individuals with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders and other chronic illnesses or functional impairments; and

                (5) twenty-four thousand sixty-three dollars ($24,063) for statewide legal assistance of senior citizens.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2013 shall revert to the general fund.
