AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH FOR SERVICES FOR AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS IN AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--

          A. Two million dollars ($2,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2014 for the following purposes:

                (1) three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) for expanded diagnostic services for adults and children suspected of having autism spectrum disorders;

                (2) three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) for services for adults with autism spectrum disorders who do not meet the criteria for services through the developmental disabilities waiver;

                (3) one million dollars ($1,000,000) for adaptive skill-building and parent home-training services that directly support children with autism spectrum disorders; and

                (4) four hundred thousand dollars ($400,000) for professional development programs and capacity-building initiatives to move toward an evidence-based system of services for those with autism spectrum disorders.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2014 shall revert to the general fund.
