AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A SCHOOL TURNAROUND PILOT PROGRAM; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three million dollars ($3,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico state university for expenditure in fiscal years 2014 through 2016 to develop and implement, through the Arrowhead business and research park in collaboration with the Anderson school of management at the university of New Mexico, a school turnaround pilot program for the adoption of applicable proven business management practices in participating school districts. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2016 shall revert to the general fund.

     SECTION 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
