AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE SUPPORT AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR LICENSED SCHOOL EMPLOYEES TO INCORPORATE THE ARTS INTO CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred fifty thousand dollars ($350,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2015 and subsequent fiscal years to create regional centers throughout the state to provide curriculum alignment, professional development, technical assistance, portfolio assessment, program support and networking opportunities to licensed school employees to incorporate the arts into classroom instruction on common core subjects and standards-based assessments. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of a fiscal year shall not revert to the general fund.
