A MEMORIAL

DECLARING FEBRUARY 5, 2014 AS "MOLINA DAY" IN THE SENATE.

     WHEREAS, Molina healthcare of New Mexico was founded thirty years ago by Dr. C. David Molina, an emergency room physician who opened a medical clinic to serve the patients he frequently treated in the emergency room simply because they did not have a primary care doctor to care for them; and

     WHEREAS, from that clinic, Molina healthcare of New Mexico continued to grow over the next three decades to become a fortune 500, multistate health care organization that provides government-sponsored health care programs; and

     WHEREAS, the company has evolved over the years, but the mission has remained the same: to provide those most in need with access to high-quality health care programs; and

     WHEREAS, this mission is still carried out today by the founder's children, Dr. J. Mario Molina, president and chief executive officer; John C. Molina, chief financial officer; and Dr. Martha Molina Bernadett, executive vice president; and

     WHEREAS, Patty Kehoe is the president of Molina healthcare of New Mexico's subsidiary and was promoted to her current position in January 2013; and

     WHEREAS, Molina healthcare of New Mexico serves approximately one hundred seventy-two thousand New Mexicans, and it recently opened clinics in Santa Fe and Albuquerque; and

     WHEREAS, the Molina healthcare of New Mexico network comprises approximately one thousand five hundred primary care physicians and six thousand five hundred specialists, and it is affiliated with approximately seventy hospitals in New Mexico; and

     WHEREAS, Molina healthcare of New Mexico is ranked the number one medicaid health plan in New Mexico;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that February 5, 2014 be declared "Molina Day" in the senate; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to Molina healthcare of New Mexico.
