A MEMORIAL

EXTENDING APPRECIATION FOR JUDGE TED BACA'S DISTINGUISHED LEGAL CAREER AND SERVICE AS A SECOND JUDICIAL DISTRICT COURT JUDGE.

 

     WHEREAS, second judicial district court Chief Judge Ted Baca has announced that he will retire from the judiciary at the end of June 2014; and

     WHEREAS, Judge Baca has served as a judge in the civil division of the second judicial district court since November 1998 and was elected chief judge for the term beginning 2009; and

     WHEREAS, Judge Baca received his bachelor of science degree from the university of New Mexico and his law degree from the university of New Mexico school of law; and

     WHEREAS, prior to becoming a judge, Judge Baca was a sole practitioner, child support hearing officer, county attorney, legislative analyst and settlement facilitator; and

     WHEREAS, in evaluations conducted by the New Mexico judicial performance evaluation commission, Judge Baca rated positive for courtesy, control over proceedings, prompt scheduling and fairness; and

     WHEREAS, survey results also found Judge Baca knowledgeable in substantive areas of law and enthusiastic in his role as a judge; and

     WHEREAS, Judge Baca is looking forward to enjoying activities in his retirement other than those associated with the law;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that appreciation be extended to Judge Ted Baca for his long and distinguished legal career and his service to the residents of New Mexico; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to Judge Ted Baca.
