AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE SUPPORT AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR HIGHLY QUALIFIED ARTS EDUCATORS TO INCORPORATE THE ARTS INTO STANDARDS-BASED INSTRUCTION IN KINDERGARTEN THROUGH GRADE TWELVE.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred fifty thousand dollars ($350,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2016 and subsequent fiscal years to create regional centers throughout the state to provide curriculum alignment, professional development, technical assistance, portfolio assessment, program support and networking opportunities for highly qualified arts educators to incorporate the arts into standards-based instruction in kindergarten through grade twelve. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of a fiscal year shall not revert to the general fund.
