AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT FOR AGRICULTURAL-BASED ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN TAOS COUNTY.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--

          A. Three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the economic development department for expenditure in fiscal year 2016 in the following amounts for the following purposes:

                (1) one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) to contract with Taos county economic development corporation to conduct an assessment of revitalization of agricultural lands to produce high-value crops in Taos county; and

                (2) two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) to contract with Taos county economic development corporation to provide specialized food and agricultural training for displaced workers in Taos county.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2016 shall revert to the general fund.
