AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC EDUCATION TO EXPAND SUMMER SCHOOL PROGRAMS FOR UNDERACHIEVING STUDENTS IN THE SANTA FE SCHOOL DISTRICT.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred forty-five thousand dollars ($145,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year 2001 to expand summer school programs for underachieving students in the Santa Fe school district. The summer school programs shall be conducted in collaboration with the city of Santa Fe at four low-performance schools in the Santa Fe school district. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.
