AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES DIVISION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONTRACTING WITH FORENSIC INTERVENTION CONSORTIUMS FOR THE PROVISION OF SERVICES TO ADULTS WITH MENTAL ILLNESS WHO WOULD OTHERWISE BE INCARCERATED.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Nine hundred seventy thousand dollars ($970,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the behavioral health services division of the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2001 for the purpose of contracting with forensic intervention consortiums for the provision of services to adults with mental illness who would otherwise be incarcerated. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.
