AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR STATEWIDE PROGRAMS FOR THE MENTALLY ILL.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two million dollars ($2,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2001 to provide or contract for statewide programs for the mentally ill, including crisis intervention training for law enforcement personnel, jail diversion programs, crisis stabilization hospital beds, supervised housing and respite facilities and rent subsidies for independent living. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.
