AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE CULTURALLY COMPETENT SERVICES FOR MEDICAID ELIGIBLE NATIVE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES OR SPECIAL MEDICAL NEEDS; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the New Mexico office of Indian affairs for expenditure in fiscal years 2000 and 2001 to contract for provision of culturally competent services for Native Americans residing in Albuquerque who are twenty-two years of age or less with disabilities or special medical needs. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.

Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
