AN ACT

RELATING TO THE JUDICIAL BRANCH OF STATE GOVERNMENT; MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A SALARY INCREASE FOR JUSTICES, JUDGES AND MAGISTRATES.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION--SALARY INCREASE FOR JUSTICES, JUDGES AND MAGISTRATES.--Seven hundred thirteen thousand five hundred dollars ($713,500) is appropriated from the general fund to the administrative office of the courts for the purpose of providing the justices of the supreme court a salary increase to ninety-eight thousand dollars ($98,000) and the chief justice of the supreme court, the chief judge of the court of appeals, judges of the court of appeals, district courts and metropolitan courts and magistrates a salary increase pursuant to Section 34-1-9 NMSA 1978. The salary increases pursuant to this section shall be effective the first full pay period after July 1, 2000. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.
