AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE PARENTING EDUCATION OF YOUNG PARENTS RECENTLY RELEASED FROM INCARCERATION.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal year 2001 for the purpose of providing or contracting for parenting education services for young incarcerated parents or parents recently released from incarceration to include life skills, employment assistance, case management and follow-up. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.
