MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE CORRECTIONS DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE A PAY INCREASE FOR CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS STATEWIDE.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million six hundred thousand dollars ($1,600,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the corrections department for expenditure in fiscal year 2001 to provide a five percent pay increase for correctional officers statewide. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.
