MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC EDUCATION TO PROVIDE TELECOMMUNICATIONS INFRASTRUCTURE FOR RURAL SCHOOLS TO ENHANCE DISTANCE LEARNING.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year 2001 to provide the telecommunications infrastructure necessary to enhance distance learning for rural schools. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.
