AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE SERVICES FOR PERSONS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES AND FOR COMPENSATION OF DIRECT CARE STAFF.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

A. Thirty-five million one hundred thousand dollars ($35,100,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2001 in the following amounts for the following purposes:

(1) twenty-nine million one hundred thousand dollars ($29,100,000) to provide services to eligible unserved persons with developmental disabilities; and

(2) six million dollars ($6,000,000) for compensation increases in order to recruit and retain direct care staff employed by developmental disability community-based provider agencies.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.
