SUMMARY



Synopsis of Bill



The bill appropriates $56.6 to conduct a pilot project in the Albuquerque area expanding the WIC farmers' market nutrition program pursuant to the federal WIC Farmers' Market Nutrition Act of 1992.



FISCAL IMPLICATIONS



The bill appropriates $56.6 in general fund in FY01 to the Department of Health.



The bill would expand the WIC farmers' market nutrition program as it is currently being operated in some areas of the state by DOH.



The LFC FY01 budget recommendation for DOH has language specifying that within the general fund contracts for WIC is funding for expansion of the WIC farmers' market nutrition program.
