Synopsis of Bill



HJM 7 requests that a study be performed by the US\Mexico Border Health Commission to examine the need for cross-border agreements related to fire protection, emergency medical services and public health and safety needs for the border region population of 11 million.



Significant Issues



HJM 7 mentions the grim health statistics of the border region and the need for increased public safety resources, including fire protection and emergency medical services. The bill requests that the study also consider legal, jurisdictional and liability issues.



RELATIONSHIP



Relates to HB 55 which appropriates $50,000 for Border Health Services and HJM 8 which requests Congress to provide federal impact aid for US communities along the US\Mexico border.
