Synopsis of Bill

HM 7 requests that the US postal service be requested to commemorate the Carlsbad Caverns national park with a postage stamp and that a copy of the memorial be transmitted to the postmaster general.

Significant Issues

The bill specifies that:

•the park was designated as a national monument in 1923
•the park was established to preserve Carlsbad Caverns within a permian-age fossil reef and contains eighty-three separate caves
•the caverns are the result of the creation of four-hundred -mile long reef
