SUMMARY

Synopsis of Bill

Senate Bill 274 would allow probation and parole officers in the Corrections Department to carry concealed weapons if the officers had successfully completed a firearms instruction course. The course could be prescribed by the Law Enforcement Academy or provided by a certified firearms instructor who is a permanent employee of a law enforcement agency. The effective date of the act is July 1,2000.
