SUMMARY

Synopsis of Bill

Senate Bill 280 appropriates $1000.0 in general fund to the Department of Public Safety to purchase ten mobile police substations to be used for state police operations throughout the state.

Significant Issues

The Administrative Office of the District Attorneys states this bill will have a positive impact on all DA programs due to the improved state police services. In many rural areas of the state, the state police are the only law enforcement available, and this appropriation will help with access to electronic data and intelligence.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

Senate Bill 280 appropriates $1000.0 in general fund in fiscal year 2001. Unexpended or unencumbered balances revert to the general fund.
