Senate Joint Memorial 62 requests that CYFD meet with Taos Pueblo officials to discuss the possibility of entering a joint powers agreement to provide licensed foster care and treatment foster care homes on Taos Pueblo.
Significant Issues
The Children, Youth and Families Department currently participants in a IV-E demonstration project with New Mexico's tribes that provides Taos Pueblo with the option of establishing a joint powers agreement to receive federal funding for culturally sensitive foster care and technical support.

OTHER SUBSTANTIVE ISSUES
The memorial specifies the needs of developing culturally sensitive mental health services for special needs children and youth in New Mexico.
