AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE SERVICES FOR PERSONS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES AND FOR COMPENSATION OF DIRECT CARE STAFF.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

A. Twenty million four hundred sixty-eight thousand nine hundred twenty-six dollars ($20,468,926) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2001 in the following amounts for the following purposes:

(1) eleven million five hundred fifty-two thousand one hundred dollars ($11,552,100) to provide services to eligible unserved persons with developmental disabilities through community programs;

(2) four million five hundred thousand dollars ($4,500,000) for compensation increases in order to recruit and retain direct care staff employed by developmental disability community-based provider agencies;

(3) four million dollars ($4,000,000) for services for eligible unserved persons with developmental disabilities through the developmental disabilities waiver program; and

(4) three hundred one thousand three hundred twenty-six dollars ($301,326) for:

(a) six full-time employees to administer the program in the long-term services division; and

(b) four full-time employees to administer the program in the health improvement division.

B. One hundred fifteen thousand five hundred dollars ($115,500) is appropriated to the human services department for expenditure in fiscal year 2001 for increased medicaid utilization review contractual services.

C. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.
