Your EDUCATION COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred

HOUSE BILL 68

has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:

1. On page 1, line 22, after "complete" insert "or enhance".

2. On page 2, line 7, strike the second occurrence of "and".

3. On page 2, line 9, strike "degree".

4. On page 2, line 11, strike the period and insert "; and".

5. On page 2, line 12, insert the following new subsection:

"D. "teacher preparation program" means one that has been formally approved as meeting the requirements of the New Mexico state board of education and leads to initial licensure or to additional licensure endorsements.".

6. On page 2, line 20, after "in" insert "a designated teacher shortage area of".

7. On page 2, line 20, after "New Mexico." insert "Teacher shortage areas may be either geographic or discipline specific.".,

and thence referred to the APPROPRIATIONS AND FINANCE COMMITTEE.
