AN ACT

MAKING APPROPRIATIONS IN SUPPORT OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SHELTERS AND PROGRAMS.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATIONS--PURPOSES.--

A. Three million nine hundred thousand dollars ($3,900,000) is appropriated for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 in the following amounts from the following sources to the children, youth and families department for the following purposes:

(1) two million dollars ($2,000,000) from the general fund for the purpose of contracting with domestic violence programs and shelters statewide to provide services to victims of domestic violence and their families; and

(2) one million nine hundred thousand dollars ($1,900,000) from the federal temporary assistance for needy families block grant of the human services department to contract for domestic violence services through domestic violence programs and shelters statewide for victims of domestic violence, and their families, who are enrolled in the temporary assistance for needy families program.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
