AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE INTERSTATE STREAM COMMISSION FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF REGIONAL WATER PLANS.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the interstate stream commission for expenditure in fiscal years 2002 through 2004 to match no more than seventy-five percent of the total cost for implementation of completed regional water plans approved by the interstate stream commission. The interstate stream commission shall disburse this appropriation to water planning regions pursuant to an application demonstrating that the proposed work complies with an approved regional water plan and does not conflict with another plan or the interests of the state. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2004 shall revert to the general fund.
