AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION IN SUPPORT OF STATEWIDE INDEPENDENT LIVING SERVICES FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million dollars ($1,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the vocational rehabilitation division of the state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 for the purpose of providing services statewide through independent living centers to persons with disabilities, such services to include independent living skills training, information and referral, peer counseling, individual and systems advocacy and other services based on individual and locally determined need. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
