AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE A STATEWIDE EDUCATION AND SUPPORT PROGRAM FOR PREGNANT TEENS AND TEEN PARENTS.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Six hundred twenty-five thousand dollars ($625,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 to provide a statewide education and support program for pregnant teens and teen parents to assist them to: complete their education; provide optimum health and nutrition for themselves and their children; and encourage their leadership development and career exploration efforts. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
