AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION IN SUPPORT OF EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMS STATEWIDE.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

A. One million one hundred thousand dollars ($1,100,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 in the following amounts for the following purposes:

(1) six hundred thousand dollars ($600,000) to expand the aim high pilot project to serve the forty-two programs eligible but unfunded due to lack of appropriations; and

(2) five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) to the office of child development to fund an additional five to eight early childhood programs.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
