AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO CONDUCT STAND DOWN AND AWARENESS PROGRAMS FOR HOMELESS, NEAR-HOMELESS AND ELDERLY VETERANS IN RURAL AREAS.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the New Mexico veterans' service commission for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 to contract with a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing services to homeless veterans for the purpose of conducting stand down and awareness programs for homeless, near-homeless and elderly veterans in rural areas. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
