AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR STATEWIDE SENIOR CITIZENS PROGRAMS.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

A. Five million seven hundred forty-five thousand six hundred dollars ($5,745,600) is appropriated from the general fund to the state agency on aging for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 in the following amounts for the following purposes:

(1) four million four hundred six thousand one hundred dollars ($4,406,100) to the six area agencies on aging for senior services, including case management, Alzheimer's respite care, adult daycare, congregate meals, home-delivered meals, transportation, in-home services and senior center services;

(2) six hundred thirty-nine thousand five hundred dollars ($639,500) to provide for increased volunteers for the foster grandparent, senior companion and RSVP programs;

(3) twenty-seven thousand four hundred dollars ($27,400) for increased information, assistance and education services for individuals with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders and their families and caregivers;

(4) one hundred ten thousand eight hundred dollars ($110,800) for statewide senior citizens olympics activities;

(5) two hundred sixty-six thousand eight hundred dollars ($266,800) for the health insurance and benefits assistance corps; and

(6) two hundred ninety-five thousand dollars ($295,000) for the long-term care ombudsman program.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
