SENATE FLOOR AMENDMENT number __1___ to HOUSE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR HOUSE BILL 277

Amendment sponsored by Senator

1. On page 2, line 12, after the semicolon strike "and".

2. On page 2, line 14, strike the period and insert in lieu thereof "; and".

3. On page 2, between lines 14 and 15, insert the following subsection:

"H. "public building" means the state capitol, a city hall, a state, county or municipal government administrative office building, a school building, a state correctional facility, a county or municipal jail facility, a regional jail facility, a juvenile detention facility, a law enforcement building, a fire station, an auditorium, a convention hall, a sports complex or any other building in which official meetings of a state, county or municipal governing body are conducted. "Public building" does not include a public or private driveway, a street, a sidewalk or walkway, a parking lot, a parking garage or any other parking area.".

4. On page 2, line 19, strike "one year" and insert in lieu thereof "two years".

5. On page 10, line 13, before "Nothing" insert the subsection designation "A.".

6. On page 10, between lines 17 and 18, insert the following subsections:

"B. A state agency may adopt a rule to disallow the carrying of a concealed handgun within a public building under the control of the state agency.

C. A county or municipality may adopt a resolution or ordinance to disallow the carrying of a concealed handgun within a public building under the control of the county or municipality.".

7. On page 11, strike lines 14 through 16 in their entirety.

8. Reletter the succeeding subsections accordingly.
