AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE CULTURALLY COMPETENT SPIRITUAL COUNSELORS FOR NATIVE AMERICAN JUVENILES DETAINED IN STATE DETENTION FACILITIES.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Forty-three thousand dollars ($43,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 to contract to provide culturally competent counselors and advisors to provide spiritual counseling to juveniles detained in state detention facilities. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
