AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE CONTRACT SERVICES FOR THE PREVENTION OF ALCOHOL, TOBACCO AND DRUG ABUSE.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Nine hundred eighty-six thousand dollars ($986,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 for contract services for the prevention of alcohol, tobacco and other drug abuse, in particular the spread and alarming consequences of drugs commonly known as black tar heroin and ecstasy, through the operation of a youth teen center that provides programs for substance abuse prevention; life skills and character development; and cultural, recreational and alternative activities in Arroyo Seco in northern Santa Fe and southern Rio Arriba counties. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
