AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF BILINGUAL TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS FLUENT IN NATIVE AMERICAN LANGUAGES TO IMPLEMENT BILINGUAL PROGRAMS AND TO ESTABLISH A DATABASE OF THE BILINGUAL TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS WORKING IN NEW MEXICO SCHOOLS.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million eight hundred forty thousand dollars ($1,840,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 to increase the number of bilingual teachers and administrators fluent in Native American languages and to begin a database of bilingual teachers and administrators who speak Native American languages and who work in schools in New Mexico. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
