AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO CREATE TEN EDUCATIONAL ACCESS ROOMS TO PROVIDE MODELS FOR PROVIDING ACCESS TO TECHNOLOGY AND EDUCATION AT COMMUNITY CENTERS THROUGHOUT NEW MEXICO.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred thirty-five thousand eight hundred twenty-three dollars ($235,823) is appropriated from the general fund to the local government division of the department of finance and administration for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 for the purpose of creating ten educational access rooms for use as models throughout New Mexico. The division shall, by rule, develop an application process for communities and procedures for reviewing the applications and distributing the appropriation. In developing the process and procedures, the division shall ensure that the appropriation is expended for educational access rooms that offer a cost-effective initiative that coordinates tutoring, distance learning and parent involvement services at community locations, while providing matching resources. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
