AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO CONTRACT FOR TEACHER TRAINING FOR TEACHING CULTURALLY DIVERSE LEARNERS.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Eighty thousand dollars ($80,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 to contract for provision of teacher training for teaching culturally diverse learners, including curriculum development that is culturally relevant and the delivery of information through teaching strategies that take into consideration learning styles and learning preferences of students, second language acquisition by Acoma-Keres students and other strategies to improve learning acquisition by diverse learners. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
