AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE SOUTHWEST AND BORDER CULTURES INSTITUTE TO MATCH A CHALLENGE GRANT FROM THE NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE HUMANITIES.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Four hundred thousand dollars ($400,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico state university for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 to provide a match for the southwest and border cultures institute's challenge grant from the national endowment for the humanities in support of four departments, the library and museum in research and public outreach projects in Native American, Hispanic, United States--Mexico border and general southwestern issues. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
