AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR MATH AND SCIENCE EDUCATION FOR BORDER REGION PUBLIC SCHOOL STUDENTS.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico state university for expenditure in fiscal year 2002 to foster math and science achievement of border region public school students through collegiate curriculum adjustments and systemic change in math and science education in the public schools. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2002 shall revert to the general fund.
